I joined Route 1 at the end of 2022 having worked for another organisation for nearly 10 years. I have been involved in the recruitment sector for nearly 30 years (Can’t quite believe it!) and have been fortunate enough to work for some great businesses and work with some amazingly talented recruiters in this time. My initial focus for Route 1 has been to look at 6 main operational areas - Business Goals / Core Values / Mission and Vision Short- & Long-Term Strategies / Business Objectives and Operational Management. I have been hugely encouraged by the Business’s desire to learn, listen, and openly welcome change. I believe that with the many changes that we have already made and implemented Route 1 is certainly on the right path to deliver greater success and it will allow us to adapt to the changes that inevitably will continue to happen within our industry and will in turn differentiate us from our competitors. It really is a case of “Watch This Space!” Outside of work I enjoy spending time travelling around the UK – In the sunshine there is no better place! I am also an avid Golf, World Superbikes and Rugby Union fan (Not a lot of people know that about me) and have spent countless hours travelling to some of the biggest sporting events over the years! I have worked in the Recruitment sector since 2015 and have been with Route 1 since November 2019. I initially was responsible for looking after the admin, payroll and credit control function for the business. I then decided to take the leap and moved over to the coal face of the business and joined the Driving Division. Over time this has expanded, and I am now involved in the recruitment for all our divisions. The role keeps me busy and as we all know no two days are ever the same in recruitment! The recruitment market has changed over these last few years, and we are constantly learning and developing our styles of recruitment – It will continue to be like this I am sure moving forward but it certainly provides me with a challenge on a daily basis and this is what I enjoy the most! I also have a busy life outside of work with two children that definitely keeps me on my toes. When I can, I love to go out with my friends, and I enjoy a drink or two!. After working in supply chain management for 25 years I decided I needed a better work life balance. An opportunity came up to work for Route 1 in the accounts & finance department which I thankfully took. I started my career many moons ago as a trainee in an accounts department, so I have come full circle and ended up in the twilight of my career where I started out. My new role has given me the opportunity and the challenge of learning new systems and processes whilst also giving me the room to share my experience and knowledge of working in a growing and expanding business. I have been working in recruitment since 2016. Throughout these years I have been based On-Site as a Senior Account Manager within the sector of food manufacturing which was a very fast paced/ever changing environment. After being based on-site at my Clients premises, I felt that I was ready for a change of environment which is when I took the opportunity to join the Route 1 team. My new role at Route 1 offers me the chance to experience a different side of recruitment and to work across multiple disciplines and sectors and be able to expand my knowledge as well as to build new Client and Candidate relationships. I am looking forward to my future with Route 1 and being able to grow and learn within the team. Outside of work I spend a lot of my time in the outdoors with my horses, after a busy week this is my favourite way to wind down and relax. I compete up and down the country with my horses and have done this all of my life. I also love music and play the piano and I am working towards a final exam in the piano. I am fairly new to the recruitment sector, my background is in HR. I spent about 10 years working for an independent care provider locally where I cut my teeth in the HR sector. Completed my degree at Huddersfield Uni. Have been with Route 1 as the Outplacement Consultant since August 2020. Our testimonials show we do a good job, which I'm very proud of. When my work is done, I do love watching the soaps on TV, I seem to have turned into a keen walker when I get the chance to get outside and enjoy our beautiful countryside.
